The O2 Arena

The arena at The O2 truly creates a new benchmark in what both fan and performer can and should expect from a rock or pop concert in the UK. You will only see the world's hottest and most sought after acts on this stage; Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Scissor Sisters, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Take That… and what a way to enjoy them.

The O2 arena can be transformed from a concert venue into a breathtaking world class sporting arena within hours and proudly hosts major events throughout the year. The O2 are dedicated to promoting and supporting British sport. As an official partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games we hosted both the gymnastics and basketball finals.

In addition to the arena itself, the venue provides a host a mix of entertainment venues, restaurants, clubs and office accommodation. Excellent transport links with the London Underground (Jubilee line), Thames Clippers, a 24hour bus terminal and the ‘Emirates Airline’ chairlift, linking the peninsula to the nearby Excel Exhibition Centre, all contribute to the site being established as a key entertainment and transport hub for South London and beyond.

Service summary

CSP was approached by AEG in 2005 to consult on the design and procurement of the most appropriate Parking Management system for the O2 Arena on the Greenwich Peninsula. In 2006, CSP was awarded a 4-year contract for the commercial management and operation of all car parks. Since then, this contract was renewed in 2010 and again in December 2013 based on continued successful commercial performance.

Providing parking space for 2,200 vehicles across 5 car parks, a mix of user groups are accommodated on a 24 hour basis. These include business commuters, venue staff, visitors to the entertainment district, event goers and London tourists. With each user profile and car park qualifying for different tariff structures, CSP has developed a dedicated team responsible for the commercial return and ‘sweating’ of the car park assets, continually meeting budget year on year.

In recent years, CSP has identified and introduced a number of new services, including the provision of valet parking for all 196 events per year, snow clearance and gritting to all local land owners, as well as offering TV and commercial filming on the site to production companies. In 2013, CSP was awarded the cleaning contract for all car parking areas, as well as the security access to back of house areas on all events.

CSP has worked hard to ensure that the commercial potential of the site is maximised, working in partnership with AEG and its stakeholders to promote visitors to the site whilst ensuring the service and experience they receive is in keeping with the stature of the O2 Arena as the most successful entertainment venue in the world.
